Baroque Jeans

Citizens of Humanity Jeans (old) // Ralph Lauren Men's Sweater (almost exact) //  J.Crew Belt // Shoemint Heels
// Celine Bag // Marc by Marc Jacobs Sunglasses // Michael Kors Watch // Bauble Bar Bracelet (old)

Yesterday, I spent the day in the West Village and the Meatpacking area. It was a beautiful, sunny day in the city- finally beginning to feel like Spring! I've had these Citizens of Humanity jeans for awhile. They remind me of Versace's signature print. They are bold and I toned them down with an oversized, navy, cashmere sweater borrowed from my brother's closet. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and a joyful Easter if you are celebrating! Also, be sure to enter my Sloane Ranger Giveaway if you haven't already!

It's Bright

 J.Crew Sweater // Current/Elliott Jeans // Free People Jacket // Ray-Ban Sunglasses // Tieks Ballet Flats c/o
// The Ropes Maine Bracelet c/o // Hermes Bangle // Celine Bag

Lately, I have been adding a lot of neon to my closet! I love mixing the colors into my outfit, then balancing it out with neutrals. For a dash of color, shoes are the best choice. I've been wearing my Tieks ballet flats a lot and they are surprisingly very versatile (see my last post with them here). Neon colors are great as well because they are also ideal for making any outfit more bold and vibrant.

Stripes + Plaid

A.L.C Sweater (off of Gilt, similar here) // Crewcuts Boys Plaid Flannel // Asos Jacket (I love this one) // J.Brand Jeans // Tory Burch Loafers (old) // Clare Viver Clutch // Urban Outfitters Sunglasses // Asha by Adm Rings

During  the weekend, my family and I made a quick trip up to Newport, Rhode Island to watch my brother compete in a college sailing regatta. I don't know if you can tell from the pictures above, but it was really cold! I ended up adding a leather jacket underneath the outer one for extra warmth! (Spring, where are you?!)

For my outfit, I did something I don't do very often, which is mixing prints. I have been pinning a lot of mixed print looks recently and I guess I was influenced to rock it myself. Even though the mixing is not as bold, I love how the look turned out. I am obsessed with the striped A.L.C. sweater which I scored off of Gilt. It's almost cropped but not quite. The plaid flannel is cozy while the shoes and bag (Clare Viver, surprise surprise) complete the red/white/blue color scheme. Patriotic, If I don't  say.

Black & White

Loeffler Randall Bag // Otte Heels // Clare Viver Clutch // RED Valentino Dress // Topshop Jeans
// Deborah Lippmann Polish // Otte Dress // Otte Bag // Asos Sunglasses

I honestly don't consider black and white a trend. I consider it a classic. Every single season it comes back in different and fresh ways. A couple of years ago it was much more ladylike, while this year it's more graphic and bold. Stripes and color block have updated the combo. You can still mix in timeless elements like big sunnies, and a sharp white manicure.

Tropical Snakeskin

Joe's Jeans The Skinny Jean // Urban Outfitters T-Shirt // Missoni Espadrilles (scored on Gilt!)
// Ray-Ban Sunglasses // Clare Viver Clutch (similar) // Bracelets: Bauble Bar // Calypso St.Barth (old)

I have a thing for printed jeans.  These pair from Joe's Jeans are so unique. The print is almost like snakeskin, but at the same time it has the effect of  tie-dye. They are also super flattering which is important with prints. A pair can look amazing on someone tall but on someone more petite, the print can overwhelm them. The fit is perfect, and they are on trend but not too much. Joe's Jeans also come in so many different prints! You also may have noticed, another Clare Viver bag! Let me tell you, I am obsessed ! For someone who doesn't carry around tons of stuff, they are ideal. I love the striped ones, seen here and here. But, this white snakeskin one is super chic. I'll be adding a million more printed pants into my closet for Spring. Look below to see some more printed pairs!

Braidy Bunch

stylemepretty.com ,longhairstyleshowto.com, weheartit.com

Other than wearing my hair down and wavy, I am always in braids. Braids are super easy for school, everyday, and sports. For sailing it's really important that my hair doesn't get knotty or tangled. It's a real pain to deal with once I'm back on land. I also wear my hair in a side braid for school almost everyday. I must say, it's becoming a tad bit boring. I would love to try the last one on my hair when I return back to school. I also love the second one for girls with super long hair. You can mix it up and make it your one.

Neon Florals

Eight Sixty Dress- in love with this one // Free People Jacket // Ray-Ban Sunglasses
// Tieks Ballet Flats c/o // Michael Kors Watch // BaubleBar Jewels

Yesterday was the first real dose of Spring we have had! The funny part, right after a snow storm. The weather called for bright colors and a fun print, thus I whipped out this dress. After seeing this dress on Piperlime, I knew it was meant for me. Anything neon and printed is always welcomed into my closet! On top, I wore another one of my new favorites! This faux leather Free People Jacket. I have been on the hunt for a light leather jacket, and I died when I saw this one! The price was ideal and it fits perfectly! Lastly, I wore my third love, ballet flats from Tieks! They are ridiculously comfy and the colors are fantastic! I will be definitely buying more for Spring.

Americana

Brandy Melville Sweater // Zara Blouse (similar) // Rich & Skinny Jeans // Tory Burch Loafers
(striped version) // Urban Outfitters Sunglasses // Bracelets: J.Crew, BaubleBar

Lately, I've been loving flag sweaters. I picked up a couple from Brandy Melville, and I've been wearing them non-stop. I love how you can mix them with classic pieces or edgier pieces to create a different look every time. For this outfit, I kept it classic with a collared blouse underneath for a preppy New England look- see my post on New England style here. My jeans are my favorite skinnies; coated jeans from Rich & Skinny. I color-coordinated the shoes to match my sweater. Gold arm candy, and simple sunglasses complete the classic look.

Glitches & Misses

I love to blog. It's one of my passions, but sometimes loving something too much comes with a price. Last night, I was cleaning up some labels in my posts. By mistake, I had all of my outfit posts checked off and instead of save, I hit delete. Right away, I went into panic. Searching on Google how to recover posts, etc. Yet, I couldn't find anything. So, I spent the next 2 hours retyping and putting together most of those posts. Now, I didn't get all of them, and the ones I did recreate aren't as good as the originals.

Now, here I am typing this post after tons of typing and tears. I am SO annoyed by this. I will try my best to recover some more posts. Be sure to see a new post tomorrow, too! One of my mottos is "Always look to the future", and here is a perfect example. Those old posts aren't going to affect what I do for my blog in a month, or a year. What will matter is the things are coming. I promise that all the upcoming posts from now until I finish blogging, will make up for those deleted posts. Also, I am really excited for the (good) changes coming for Sailing the Sea of Style. Thank you for sticking with me, and I hope you understand that technology is not always on your side. (: To see all those deleted posts; visit my Pose or Chictopia account.

Keep on Sailing,

Charade

One of my favorite movies is Charade with Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant. I love this movie for several reasons; the acting, the fashion, and the "thriller-vibe". Audrey and Cary are my two favorite actors. Their charisma in this movie is spot on. My second favorite thing is the fashion. The chic/Parisian/spy-esque look that Audrey does oh-so-well. The movie takes place in Paris too! {Fun Fact} The 1st time I watched Charade was in Paris with my brother. Funny, isn't?!

This look was inspired by the looks Audrey sports throughout the film. I changed it a little bit by adding a big sparkly ring, and sporty sunnies. Leave a comment below if you have ever seen Charade!

Playing with Neutrals

Recently, I've been mix and matching neutrals for an easy look. I think it's really important to have a solid base of basic neutrals in your closet that you can wear over and over again. Most neutrals are also season less, which is an added bonus! For this look, I paired my favorite Equipment blouse with a sheer Haute Hippie sweater. To make the look different, distressed denim is a no-brainer. I finished the look off with a pop of color of with a maroon hat.

Sloane
